RSVP for JLI Elections Course

  • The election season is in full swing and it’s easy to get lost in all the tumult. Shouting,
name-calling and attacking often overshadow any actual conversation or debate, regardless
    of creed or party.

What does Judaism say about all of this? Is the Torah as partisan as our politics? Let’s cut past the
clutter of political games and media hype, tune out the partisan noise and discover the classical
Jewish viewpoint on gun-control and immigration at our upcoming two-week CLE accredited JLI
    mini course, Elections 2016.

The stories are heartbreaking and gut-wrenching. People are being shot anywhere, in our
classrooms, malls, the workplace. What are we supposed to do about gun violence? Should our
laws be more restrictive? Are they too restrictive already? How do we balance competing interests
    of safety and freedom?

This immigration debate is so harsh that people cannot even agree on the terminology. Are they
called “undocumented immigrants” or “illegal aliens?” In general should we be welcoming
immigration and relaxing its rules? Or should we be more cautious about who is allowed to enter
    and reside in this land?

How do the Torah’s teaching shape these discussions? Whichever side of the aisle and join Rabbi
Dovid Flinkenstein for a fascinating discussion. Register today!
